When in 1993 Dutch death/doom-metal band Dead End ended, bass-player Alwin Roes and vocalist Misha van de Ven started the band Wish. By recruiting Bart Smits, the first vocalist of legendary The Gathering (on the debut-album “Always”), they found a vocalist and keyboard player with the same vision to create intense doomy though catchy pumping rock, with a smudge of 80’s alternative bands like Joy Division and The Sisters Of Mercy. With no guitars but 2 bass guitars, where Alwin played 6-string with distortion bass, they created their own unique sound (a mix of alternative, doom, gothic and industrial) and recorded their first album “Monochrome” in 1995. Doc Records will re-release this fantastic debut-album on cd as a special digibook edition and the first ever vinyl releases of this gem. If you were into the 80’s & 90’s alternative heavy goth and doom scene, this is a must have in your collection!
