The instrumental modern post-rock / neo-classical quartet Bruit from Toulouse, France has been hyped many times lately as ‘the next big thing in post-rock’. While their first 2018-EP “Monolith” provided a promising indication of their sonic ambition, it was their debut-album “The Machine Is Burning And Now Everyone Knows It Could Happen Again” (2021) which really set off the trigger.

It received raving reviews and took their music to sold-out stages across Europe (ao Dunk, ArcTanGent, Damnation, Amplifest & Roadburn), expending themselves as they pushed the limits of their performances each night. It brough the collective on a new path. A trajectory which saw the need for pause, for meditation and reflection, and this gave birth to the more ambient EP “Apologie Du Temps Perdu” (2023). A solemn ode to the flagrant act of wasting our time.

Now it’s time for their new second album. Full of symphonic experimentation, these French art-rockers have excelled on “The Age Of Ephemerality”; chaotic progressive post-rock, atmospheric metal, neo-classical avant-garde, free jazz, aphoristic spoken word passages and folktronica go hand in hand with beauty, loving charm, emotive power, brute noise, innovation, grandeur and vision. With a philosophical, poetic and political reflection on our insatiable fascination with technology, and its dependency, alienation and exploitation on this album on top, the overwhelming “The Age Of Ephemerality” will blow minds, positively!
